About us

The importance of the seas and oceans is indisputable for life sustenance as well as being a valuable resource that offers possibilities for sustainable development. Galicia, due to its characteristic geographical situation, is particularly linked to coastal activities and its resources.

For more than 10 years, INTECMAR, CETMAR and METEOGALICIA have been working together on the launch of a Comprehensive Coastal Observatory in Galicia aiming to:

  • Support the coordinated management of the marine environment
  • Preserve ecosystem services
  • Facilitate the sustainable development of the productive sectors linked to the blue economy

This observatory takes part in the RAIA Observatory, collaborating with other institutions both nationally and in the north of Portugal.
